The girl behind the lens! {brevard county photographer)

Since my business has taken off so much this year I have met so many new people. When I started in photography, 90% of the people I was photographing I already knew in some way. But as time has gone on, my awesome friends, family and clients have shared my page, my site and my work with their friends and family and I have been able to meet some amazing new faces.

I love getting to know you and to share your story. After all that is my goal. To not just capture photos but to capture your story. To capture life's moments for you! Adding blogging to my lineup has helped me get more detailed about my clients and what their story is. I have learned from my clients and I have been so blessed to share some touching stories.

So I thought I would take the time to share my story and introduce myself to you. Plus most of the time you see me in workout clothes or something easy to wear and shoot in. So now I am actually dressed nice. Lauren, another photographer who recently left the area as back visiting her family. She wanted to get some family shots per her dad's request. So she reached out to the photographer community in the area and asked about a barter session. So we connected and she took some head shots for me in return. I was in desperate need of some because the about me section of my website has a photo of me from a wedding from like 4-5 years ago and I am not even looking at the camera. (eeek)

I want you to know I have delayed doing this because I am just like you. I hate being in front of the camera. I am self conscious. I don't know where to put my hands. I feel awkward. I have a big nose. I mean the list goes on as to why I don't, but then I would be a hypocrite if I never saw the other side right? So I stepped out and did it.

Lauren captured some amazing photos and even some funny outtakes to get me to loosen up! Hope they make you smile too.

So you can read a few random facts about me here. This was a blog a did a year or so ago. But the short of it all is I am just like all of you. I have an amazing husband who supports my wild ideas. We have fun together and always challenge each other. I have an adorable son. He is my entire world. (never thought I would say that) but he consumes all of my days. Having my photography business allows me to be with him all the time and never miss those important moments and I am so grateful for that. It really gives me the flexibility I need to be a wife and a mom and still contribute to the family needs. I am an introvert so this allows me to get out of my comfort zone without feeling to uncomfortable. I love staying active and working out. I usually wake up early and get my workout in before the little one wakes up. That's my quiet time before his little ball of energy takes over the day. I get to catch up on business, quiet time and me time. Some days I rather sleep but after working 11 years in banking and waking up early I am used to it. I hate running but ran 1/2 of a 1/2 marathon this year with my husband. Running is easier to do with my son than cycling is. So I have to deal with the trade off. Among other things I love to eat food, travel and DIY home improvement projects.

I look forward to getting to know you all more as the years go by and I document all those special moments for you. I look forward to meeting new people too! So thanks to all of you for sharing and spreading the word and supporting me. I wouldn't be here without you!

xoxo,
trisha

Nora's 3 month milestone {brevard county photographer}

I met sweet Nora when she was just a newborn baby. She was so tiny and such a great baby during her session. You can view her newborn session here.

Nora's parents signed her up for the baby plan. My baby plan is a great way to capture every milestone of your little one from newborn to one and beyond. You get 5 sessions when you pre-buy the baby plan. You can use these at the suggested milestones (3,6,9months and 1 year) or you can span then out as long as you want and when you want them. They don't expire. They great thing is this allows me to capture your sweet one at these sessions, they get comfortable with me over time and the consistency in style remains the same.

Nora is already making some huge milestones since hitting her 3 month mark. She makes great eye contact and smiles so big! She has great head control and can even operate her own Binky! She is such a big personality inside a little body that is just bursting to come out. Mom and dad call her Norita because she is their little nora borrito! I love it. When I started calling her Norita she just beamed with excitement!

Take a look at some of the amazing expressions we captured during her session!

Turkey Creek Maternity Session {Brevard County Photographer}

SEO...no this is not an acronym or an abbreviation for a job title like CEO (Chief executive officer) or CFO (Chief financial officer). Instead it means Search Engine Optimization. If you are in the marketing world, or digital world you may have heard this term. It means: the process of maximizing the number of visitors to a particular website by ensuring that the site appears high on the list of results returned by a search engine. I spent 11 years in banking and sales. This term comes at no surprise to me. Everything we did was gauged by numbers. Number of clients, number of calls, number of referrals, number of you name it. Everything was tracked too. Well the digital world is no different. The number of visitors to your website is tracked by some behind the scenes world that I really don't understand and the more visitors then the better chance your name gets put at the top of the list for any search engines. Yup, there's a science and process to it. So what does that have to do with a maternity session?

Well as a business owner, I do have to know a little if I want people to find me. Hailey just happened to search for a maternity photographer in her area and guess who's name popped up!? How sweet is that!?! All my hard work of blogging and posting paid off. People actually see me when the search. It always excites me when I learn how people find me and this was pretty cool to learn.

So Hailey contacted me about a maternity session. She was due in less than 2 weeks! So due to some chain of events I had an opening on my calendar for the Saturday she reached out to me. BUT the weather had other plans. So we canceled Saturday. Then moved it to Sunday. Canceled again. Decided Wednesday would be our best bet. Nope. Canceled again due to rain. At this point Hailey was a little concerned we may not get maternity images at all. Being the Florida native I am, I knew we would get them. She having lived here only 2 years, is still learning the crazy weather we have here. I was hopeful we would get them. So we planned for Thursday and we ended up having a beautiful day with no rain to capture her maternity session. It may have been extremely hot, but we had sunshine!

I am so excited for her and Jesus to welcome their sweet little boy into this world. He will be the 4th generation to carry on the name too! How awesome is that!? We have to wait for his arrival before we can go getting excited over him just yet. Until then, we can be in awe at how cute these two are and how amazing mom to be looks!

Hailey finished her session wearing one of the maternity gowns I provide my clients at no additional charge. This allows you to save money on your wardrobe and still have access to beautiful gowns. See my collection here: Maternity Gowns

A photographic legacy {Brevard County Photographer}

This past weekend we said goodbye to my grandmother. After almost 85 years of life, it was her turn to go home to heaven. 11 years ago we said goodbye to my grandfather. It's crazy to see how fast time goes by. While they were both ready when the time came, my grandmother was even more so. She lived the last 11 years without the love of her life. They would've celebrated 63 years of marriage this year. She was a believer and knew she would go to heaven to be reunited with Christ and her husband.

When your loved one is ready to go and you know their eternal destination is heaven, it gives you a sense of peace too. She lived a long life and experienced so many things. She had 3 sons, who all married. She has 5 grand kids...that she witnessed each one graduate, 3 of them she witness get married and 3 of them had children she was able to meet. So she had 6  great grandchildren total. She traveled and enjoyed life.

After the services, we had to rummage through her belongings. This was not as arduous as it could have been. She was very organized and had downsized over the years. But the one thing that I noticed as we did this was we all returned to her photographs. She was a lover of photographs and memories. She always wrote the date on the back of them (something I need to work on). But we literally sat there for a while looking at these old photos and laughing about the horrible styles we thought were cool and the memories captured.

One of the things I get to treasure is a series of scrapbooks. In 2004 my grandparents celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary. In 2003 after I graduated highschool I took up a love for scrapbooking. This is where my love of photos would begin. I made a scrapbook of my senior year. When my grandma saw it she wanted me to make her one of highlights through the years. So we sat down together and she pulled out pictures and told me about them and I worked for months of creating a scrapbook. I presented it to her at the 50th Anniversary Surprise party that the family threw for them. She loved it.

Now that she has passed, I have become the owner of these treasures. It is a legacy of photographs that will be cherished for years and passed down for generations. It tells the story of two people who fell in love, worked hard and lived amazing lives. They were blessed beyond measure and had a love that stood the test of time.

It was her photographs that everyone looked back on. That everyone touched and talked about. The VCR tapes were outdated, the stuff she had left was meaningless and the furniture was useless to everyone. But the photographs were tangible, in their vintage state, and they allowed all of us to step back in time a remember moments we all cherished.

As I continue to work with my clients, I continue to advocate printing your photos. And it is also the reason why I offer so many print options. A time will come when the digital device everything is saved to is outdated like the VCR, or they will get damaged or erased, but the photographs stand the test of time. Yes they may fade and not survive any catastrophic event such as water or fire damage, but otherwise they remain. I encourage you to find ways to preserve your memories through print. There are so many options...canvas, prints, scrapbooks and more. I would love to help you find ways to start preserving your memories.
