Last week I had the pleasure of photographing Baby Lucy. I met her mom, Sara, way back in school...elementary or Junior high rings a bell. So to say we have known each other for a long time is an understatement. Sara got to take advantage of winning one of the 12 days of Christmas give aways I had last year. I am so glad she decided to capture her sweet daughter.
Lucy made quite the entrance into this world. Sara woke early the morning of her birth like she did most mornings. This time though, she notice some cramping which felt like contractions. After monitoring them for a few minutes, sure enough they were. It was time to head to the hospital...or so they thought. Her husband and her began to pack the car and head out when all of a sudden a large contraction hit and Sara realized Lucy was ready to come out! Her husband immediately dialed 911 and she phoned her midwife. Through first responders and their midwife, Sara and Chad were able to safely deliver sweet Lucy into the world via an unplanned home birth. When they told Chad to use a shoelace to clamp off the umbilical cord, he opted for floss- cleaner and fresher. Emergency responders showed up and took mother and baby to hospital. Everything checked out just fine and both are doing great. Such an awesome story to have and share years later.
I am so fortunate that I had the opportunity to capture Lucy's newborn images. Her older brother Liam, was such a big boy. He did so well for us. These are images, this family will truly cherish forever.
