This year I desperately wanted to do the same. I wanted to highlight the women in my community who wanted to share and heal at the same time. BUT COVID-19 has put a huge damper on all of this. So, I had to think outside the box and beyond. Last year at the same time I was doing my sessions, another photographer Cassie Clayshulte of South Carolina started doing a project of her own as another sister in the struggle. She did "Buckets of Hope" and encouraged other photographers to join in. This year she did the same. So, with the COVID-19 restrictions I thought now would be the perfect time to join in her movement. But no worries as the week goes on, I will have some other special and creative things to share as well. So, stay tuned and please take the time to read each blog post. I hope they inspire you and help you in your own journey or with a friend going through the same thing.
Buckets Of Hope:
The purpose behind "Buckets of Hope" is as to
bring awareness to infertility issues. Why a Bucket you ask? A bucket often
times is used to photograph newborn babies in during their newborn session. As
a newborn photographer, we wanted to use something that was a visual reference
in our industry. Many times, those who are suffering from infertility, they see
newborn photos and long for their own.
Why Rainbows?
Rainbows are often sign of hope. In fact, the first record
of the rainbow is in Genesis after the flood. It was a sign to Noah, and all
humankind, that he would never flood the whole Earth again. In the photography
world, we use it as a symbol of hope as well. Many times, those who are
struggling against infertility also have experienced loss during their journey.
The baby born after the loss is called a rainbow baby.... after the storm there
is a rainbow of hope. The storm is their loss and the hope is their sweet baby
they've been blessed with.
As the week goes on we will share more about our special project and the infertility struggle.
