Infertility Awareness Day 3.....Pineapples for Fertility {Brevard County Photographer}

It seems if you are going to have a mission or an awareness you have to have a mascot or brand image, right? How do you brand infertility while still bringing hope? Well it seems the pineapple is the symbol for this cause and rightfully so.

If you have ever been on this journey you will relate to what I am about to say. If you haven't chances are you have applied this same process to other areas in your own life. It is how we are wired almost. So, I want to focus on the thoughts of someone struggling with infertility, since after all this is an infertility awareness project and how pineapples became the right choice for the symbol of infertility.

You see, the process to conceive is really easy.... have intercourse, right? Well, for anyone going through this you suddenly learn really quick that this is not the case. It suddenly becomes a science. The best and maybe closest struggle I can relate it to is weight loss. You see when you are trying to lose weight you start exercising and eating salads. You lose some and then plateau, get frustrated and gain it back. There are pills you can take, drinks you can chug, do this work out and not that, eat this instead of that, and so forth. That you basically feel like it's a science experience of trial and error.

Well for infertility it is the same. After the natural process doesn't work you turn to google, books, blogs and friends. And you take it all in and start the roller coaster of do this and do that. You see if you do a quick google search right now you will find 17 ways to boost infertility, natural ways to boost infertility, infertility in your 30s, supplements to take for fertility and the list goes on.

Anyone who has done this search has most likely ordered someone, changed something or followed whatever they read. It becomes a vicious cycle in the mind. There are things from taking cold medicine to help with mucus, to eating nuts for egg fertility, avoid eating other foods, add more fats, eat one meal at a certain time of day, exercise, don't exercise, less carbs, more protein, relax and reduce stress, cut the caffeine, avoid alcohol, take supplements and more depending on what source you read. And each source guarantees that they have the answer. So, we try it and we don't get the result and try another and still don't get the result. Even when we seek medical help, we still don't always get the result we want.

This is probably one of the greatest struggles that anyone going through infertility has. We try so much and sometimes nothing works.

With the pineapple, it is believed that the core of the pineapple contains bromelain. An enzyme that helps break down our foods. When taken on an empty stomach it can help thin our blood and has anti-inflammatory principles that help the embryo implant to the uterus.  Of course, with anything, everyone is divided on this theory.

There is also the fun quote about Pineapples....Be a Pineapple...stand strong, wear a crown and be sweet on the inside. 

I think this is a positive vibe for those to hold on to. The pineapple is tough, just like the women going through this. Our exterior may be a little rough from the journey we been on, but our insides are sweet and long to carry a baby in our wombs. And just like growing a pineapple, some things take a little bit of time.
