Goodbye 2016, Hello 2017

First off I want to thank you so much for all your support this past year. Thank you for trusting me to capture your family and loved ones. Thank you for the opportunity to give you lasting memories. I appreciate each and every one of you for letting me capture you in the moment and tell your stories.

2016 was an awesome year. Looking back there are so many things to be excited about. First as you know, I had my own son. He is our little miracle baby. After years of infertility, God gave us him. Then, I got to leave my “corporate” job in banking to be a stay-at-home mom AND full time photographer. I also moved, which has given me a new area with new locations to shoot and a garage to use for some “indoor” studio styled shoots. And finally, I worked with each of you which was one of my busiest years yet. I had over 57 different photo sessions and events, snuggled 11 babies and captured my first surprise engagement session. I can’t help but look back at 2016 with a HUGE smile.

As 2016 nears an end, it is time to start looking ahead to 2017. So many exciting things are in the works. First, as many of you already saw, I have a new logo. This has been something I wanted to do for a while now. I wanted something simple yet would stand out. As I plan ahead for 2017, I want to share a little with you to get you excited too. I have a few mini sessions planned throughout the year. These were a huge hit last year and I want to provide these for you again, plus more. In addition, I am able to offer studio styled sessions in my home. I just did a cake smash session and it was a huge hit.

One of the biggest changes I want to share with you for 2017 is my pricing guide. I want to be open with you. I have not changed my prices in over 2 years. I want to remain competitive in the market as well as profitable to sustain. In addition, one of my greatest joys is to provide you with quality images and prints. I want you to be able to display your images in your home with the highest quality prints and still provide you with digital options. As we become a digital society more and more, I have noticed less and less we print our images and display our own family in our homes. I want to change that. I want to help you tackle this task. I will be having several packages that offer both prints and digitals; and packages that offer albums and digital files…. still at an affordable cost to you. I am extremely excited about this and have been for quite some time. I know you too will appreciate the quality of these prints.

As many of you know, 90% of my business comes from YOU! Thank you. Thank you for referring me to your friends and your family. It means more to me than you will ever know. That is why going forward, anytime someone you refer to me books and pays for their session, you will receive a $50 credit to use towards a session or product purchase. There is no expiration for the credit once you receive it and you can use multiple credits at a time to ultimately get your session or images for FREE!

Again, 2016 was an awesome year. I thank you all for being a part of it and making it great. I look forward to working with you in 2017 as your family grows and memories are made. Thank you! Happy New Year to you and your family!

Why Trisha Harris Photography?

In today's day and age everyone has a camera. And everyone has a digital camera at their fingertips with their smart phones. In fact our generation now, is the most photographed generation ever! Think about it. We photograph everything these days. With digital photography there is no longer the fear of wasting a roll of film on bad images, you just delete what you don't like and keep on taking pictures. With digital storage, you don't have hundreds of images lying around taking up space, so we don't feel cluttered by them...unless of course you have used all the memory storage up on your device. ;) But my point is, photography is at our fingertips, so why do you need me?
Even though photography is at our fingertips, using a professional photographer like myself goes further than the picture. It goes deeper into the quality of images you will end up with and the experience from start to finish. From the time we first communicate to the day you get your images, each part of the session experience is special. You are purposefully thinking about each decision and specializing the session to be all about you. In fact that is my number one goal: to deliver quality images of you and your loved ones, that capture your life designed around your life-STYLE.
I am more than a girl with a camera. I have studied photography at Brevard Community College (now Florida Eastern), continued learning through online courses and participated in hands on workshops. My studies have taught me how to capture the image using the right controls to get the perfect colors and lighting. Online courses keep me up to date on the latest trends and workshops give me the hands on experience PLUS the safety to handle you and your precious family. In addition to creating beautiful images, safety is a number one concern. No photograph is worth compromising you.
Have you ever taken a photo and not like the way you are posed? Arm sticks out? Chin looks double? Belly looks bloated? All of these things can be avoided with the right pose. I guide you through you entire session posing you for the most flattering angles so that you look your best. I care about the details, so I fix wrinkles shirts or bent collars. I comb hair into place and position you so avoid wind blown hair everywhere. I want you to look your best and see that when you see the final result.
I work with you to make sure the session is all about you and your wants. I tell all my clients, location is key. If you hate the beach, then having a session on the beach is a bad idea for you. So I learn about your likes, your home decor and your preferences to pick locations that speak your personality and style. I scout locations that offer multiple options so you don't have to go to multiple places to achieve different looks. I also choose locations that are within a reasonable travel location for you. There is an entire coast of beaches, so if you live in the south end of the county, we don't have to travel to the north end to get a great beach location. In addition, I am happy to help create a style that matches your location. Stressed about if your wardrobe will look right? I will give you tips and pointers to ensure you look and feel your best!
After I take your pictures, your time with me continues. I present your images to you and allow you to order the ones you want! I help you decide the best sizes and options to meet your needs from the session. Do you have wall that you want to make into a gallery wall? I can help you design it and create just that. Do you want something more tangible that can be touched like an album to display for everyone to look at? Great I can create those too with the images you love most. I work with high quality labs to ensure your images are printed on material that are safe and designed to hold color and last for generations. At the end of the day, I am a girl with a camera and lots of experience and guidance along the entire process. Photography should be an investment to pass down for generations to appreciate and admire. You are freezing a moment in time and I want all those details to be perfect so you can remember them for years to come. So WHY me? Because it's not about me, it's all about YOU!

How to prepare children for a photo session

You have finally decided to get family pictures done. You have spent months contemplating this decision. Desperately you want beautiful images of YOU with your family since you are always the one taking the pictures. BUT secretly you fear how your kids will respond to the situation! Will they fight? Are they going to get sick the day of the session? What if they destroy their outfit before the first pose? Are your kids shy around strangers?
No worries! Every parent has these same questions and thoughts as they think about planning a session with a professional photographer. Let me put you at ease with a few tips and tricks! This will help you, your kids and me (your photographer). I am going to address some of those fears mentioned and ways to be prepared for the session.
First off the main goal is to capture beautiful family pictures of YOU and your family. We want everyone in their best moods, mom and dad included. So to ensure everyone is happy I recommend the following tips. Naps! I cannot stress enough. If your child(ren) are still in the nap stage of life, make sure they get a really good nap the day of the session. A tired kid will always be cranky which will lead to unhappy parents. Mom and Dad if you need a nap to feel refresh, try to get one too. Most sessions are done in the late afternoon, early evenings so a nap will help avoid the bewitching hour crankiness that comes out. In addition to naps to help keep everyone happy, food in another important one. You may plan to eat dinner after the session (which is fine) however, make sure everyone has a snack before the session to keep their bellies happy too. We don't want anyone to end up HANGRY during a session.
With kids, there's always germs going around. If you suspect your child is sick and not feeling well please contact me. We want everyone feeling well and if you or your child is sick, especially contagious, then we will want to reschedule your session when everyone is feeling better. Especially with younger kids, boogers dripping from their noses never looks good in pictures. ;)
How about keeping their clothes clean beforehand? I always suggest changing their clothes when you arrive to the location. Let them wear a t-shirt on the drive over, and then quickly change them once you get there. Then there is no worries on keeping them clean. In addition, if you are styling hair that may get messed up, bring some styling products to quickly fix or style when you arrive. Let's face it, I may be a "stranger" to your kids and I have this big ole camera I am shoving in their face! They may be shy...and that is ok. I love to get down on their level...giving hi fives and fist bumps. I talk to them as if they are making some of the decisions too. Just prepare you children for the session by telling them exactly what is going on. Tell them how we are going to have fun and get pictures taken and smile lots of smiles. Sometimes a reward at the end of the session like ice-cream or candy always helps. ;)
The goal of the session is to make it about you and your family. So one of the best pieces of advice I can give is to plan a session that fits your family. Kids don't like to be "stuffy" so choose clothing that fits them well, does not have "scratchy" materials and is not too hot. Shirt and tie is not always the right combination for every family. Sometimes shoes off on the beach is the right way to capture you and your family. At the end of the day I want everyone to have fun during your session. I want your kids to enjoy being apart of the family and excited to have their picture taken. I want mom and dad to be stress free in knowing they are going to get beautiful family photos. I want everyone to look their best and feel their best. As always if you have any other questions around preparing for your session, let me know. I am happy to help you!

Holiday Mini Sessions!

It's that time of year again. You know when the months all seem to roll into one. Everything is pumpkin spice and we spend time with family and friends as we celebrate the holidays. I don't know about you but I love this time of year. I am especially looking forward to this year, as Calvin will be celebrating his first for everything. Seems to make it a little sweeter knowing I will be capturing and experiencing so many firsts this holiday season.

I am also looking forward to capturing you and your family during this time. I have several mini sessions for you to choose from. All of these will be great to document the holiday for you children, get updated family photos and get a head start of Christmas cards.

First off we have our Fall mini sessions. I love fall. I love everything about it. The colors, the smell in the air and the food! Probably why I host Thanksgiving every year because I love the food. haha. Any way our Fall mini is sure to deliver. We set up a cute fall scene complete with hay, pumpkins and fall flowers. All you have to do is show up. Come dressed casual, fall boots are welcome or even dress in your Halloween costume. Either way you will have great images to celebrate the kick off of the season. Once you sign up for this you will get instructions on location. The times for this session are 5pm,5:30pm,6:00pm, 6:30pm. Of course I will open up more if there is more interest. If you wish to book one of these sessions, purchase your session by going here: FALL MINI CHECKOUT
http://trishaharrisphotography.bigcartel.com/

The next two mini sessions are going to be FUN! They are the Christmas Mini session. This year we have twp types to choose from. I am super excited to offer these for you and your family. The first is the traditional outdoor mini session. This option is a two day event. Saturday and Sunday November 5th and 6th. This will take place at a location by the river with a historic house, boardwalk, and trees. You don't want to miss this. For this session, I am offering different packages. If you have followed me for any time now, printing images is a passion that goes along with taking photos. Digital files are great for here and now, but later when the CD drive is extinct and the USB is no longer found on ever computer style, how will you and your loved ones access your images? They won't! So print your pictures. That's why two packages offer printed images. These will also give you a head start on gifts for grandmas....we know they love printed pictures. To sign up for this you will need to email me at tharris415@aol.com or FB message me or call/text 321.863.6034. First come first served and a $50 non-refundable deposit is required due to the nature of this session. Time for this session are: 4,4:30,5,5:30,6:00pm.

And finally the newest style session for this holiday season is the INDOOR kids only mini session. These are going to be fun. They are for kids only. These will have two options....a whimsical Christmas Scene or a Christmas pattern backdrop. If you want to use both you will need to book two sessions. The backdrops have not been released, once they do I will share the updated backdrops. Have your child come dressed in their holiday best, cute and casual or in their Christmas PJs. Either way it will be a fun session. These will be held at my home studio and will be on Saturday December 3rd. We will start at 10am and go from there. First come first serve and a deposit is required for these as well. Please contact me at tharris415@aol.com, FB or call/text 321.863.6034 to sign up and reserve your spot.
